CARE and partners in the Call to Action Field Implementation (CAFI) project consortium seek an experienced Project Manager to coordinate and supervise implementation of project activities in the MENA and West Africa regions. The CAFI project has been developed to work with and strengthen women-led organizations (WLOs) and women-led networks/coalitions to meaningfully contribute to the sustainable implementation of the Call to Action on Protection from Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies Global Roadmap 2021-2025 at field level.

CAFI is a three-year project funded by the US Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration that aims to promote collective action led by women and girls, represented by WLOs and women-led coalitions/networks, and to lead the planning and coordination among Call to Action signatories to operationalize the CTA field implementation in two regions: the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) and Western Africa. At present, six countries have been identified for project activities and advocacy initiatives: Cameroon, Mali and Niger; and Iraq, Lebanon and Sudan. CAFI will be implemented by a Consortium made of the Arab Women’s Organization of Jordan (AWO), CARE USA and the Dynamique des Femmes Juristes (DFJ) in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in coordination with stakeholders in the six focus countries.

CAFI consortium partners are looking for a Project Manager to coordinate and supervise implementation of the CAFI project in focus countries in the MENA and West Africa regions under the supervision of the Consortium governance entities (Project Coordination Unit [PCU] and the Consortium Steering Committee [CSC]), in close coordination with technical advisors and other resources. The Project Manager will help manage existing relationships between Consortium members and donors, and identify new potential partners and donors in the execution of the project strategy. This is a fixed term position required to start as soon as possible.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Relevant work experience related to gender advocacy
  • The selected candidate will have a strong background in efficient project management and in developing/maintaining and strengthening partnerships within a civil society context. S/He will have experience working in women-led organizations and women-led movements/ coalitions in the Global South as well as demonstrated success in working with and strengthening the capacities of local organizations.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in work related to gender-based violence, gender equality, inclusion and diversity.
  • Three to five years of previous professional experience in a similar position with three or more years of functional management experience and budget management experience within a community-based organization, civil society organization or NGO
  • Resourceful and agile team player, with demonstrated ability to operate effectively under stressful conditions, within multi-cultural project teams and under tight deadlines
  • Familiar with donor regulations and requirements and has a track-record of successfully implementing innovative projects while meeting reporting requirements and achieving performance
  • Self-starter able to lead through experience and in a participatory manner, with the skills to work in diverse contexts, building and nurturing successful partnerships and working relationships
  • Fluency in English and French is required
