Call for Expression of Interest
Representation of Persons with Disabilities on the SIHHBDP PIU Coordinating Committee
Following the closure and winding up of the Millennium Challenge Account–Lesotho II (MCA-Lesotho II) on 18 April 2026, the Government of Lesotho resolved to continue selected revised components under national stewardship through the Sustainable Irrigated Horticulture, Health and Business Development Programme Project Implementation Unit (SIHHBDP PIU).
This transition resulted in the dissolution of the MCA-Lesotho II Board of Directors and the establishment of a new Governing Body to provide oversight and strategic guidance for the programme.
The SIHHBDP PIU Coordinating Committee invites qualified individuals with disabilities to express their interest in serving as a Committee Member, representing the interests and voices of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Lesotho.
Role and Responsibilities
- Represent the interests of persons with disabilities in all Committee deliberations, ensuring their perspectives are integrated into project design, implementation, and monitoring
- Provide expert input on accessibility, inclusion, and equity in project activities
- Safeguard compliance with national and international disability rights frameworks
- Advise on strategies to strengthen participation of persons with disabilities in economic, social, and health initiatives under SIHHBDP
- Contribute to budget oversight and sustainability planning with a focus on inclusive programming
- Report regularly to the Committee on progress, challenges, and opportunities for disability inclusion
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Disability Studies, Public Policy, Community Development, Human Rights, or an equivalent field
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working on issues affecting persons with disabilities, including advocacy, representation, and mainstreaming disability concerns across sectors
- At least 5 years’ experience engaging with policy, regulatory, legislative, and institutional frameworks related to disability inclusion and social protection
- Strong knowledge of disability rights frameworks, inclusive development policies, and accessibility standards
- At least 5 years’ experience in governance, stakeholder engagement, or committee representation
- Proven ability to articulate and safeguard the interests of marginalised groups
- At least 3 years’ experience in programme oversight, monitoring, or evaluation of disability-focused initiatives
- Demonstrated experience in promoting inclusive access to services, financial sustainability planning, and reporting to governance committees
Other Requirements
- Must be a person with a disability (PWD)
- Must be a Lesotho citizen
- Strong integrity, independence, and sound judgement
- Ability to uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and impartiality
- Proven track record in governance, stakeholder engagement, and disability rights advocacy
- Familiarity with governance structures, committee reporting, and compliance oversight
- Ability to align disability inclusion with broader project objectives in health, horticulture, and business development
