Commonwealth Secretariat invites new members to join its Audit Committee

The Audit Committee is appointed by the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Board of Governors.  The Audit Committee is advisory and its key tasks include:

  • Advising on the appointment of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s external and internal auditors as well as maintaining oversight of their work.
  • Keeping under review the Secretariat’s system of internal control and risk management.
  • Monitoring the integrity of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s financial statements and compliance with applicable accounting standards

The Audit Committee meets four times a year in London. Meetings are normally scheduled for three hours between 4 and 7 pm on weekdays. In addition some work must be undertaken in advance of meetings.

The appointment will initially be for a period of three years. The position is unpaid but reasonable local travel expenses will be reimbursed.

This opportunity is open to individuals who are Commonwealth citizens residing in London. Applicants should be persons with significant experience in general or financial management, risk management or human resources as well as a background in corporate governance.
