Call for Applications: MSME Resilience Building and Preparedness Support
Organisation: Government of Lesotho – Competitiveness and Financial Inclusion (CAFI) Project
Background
The Government of Lesotho has received financing from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank to implement the Lesotho Competitiveness and Financial Inclusion (CAFI) Project.
The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to increase access to business support services and financial products targeted at Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs, particularly women and youth.
Under Subcomponent 1.3 – Strengthening the Resilience of MSMEs to Climatic Shocks and Disasters, the CAFI Project provides targeted support to enhance the preparedness and resilience of MSMEs against climate-induced shocks and disasters.
The support aims to strengthen business continuity by:
- Reducing the vulnerability of MSMEs to climate-related risks and disasters.
- Protecting productive assets.
- Improving operational resilience.
- Promoting sustainable enterprise growth.
The Government of Lesotho, through the CAFI Project, therefore invites eligible Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to apply for Resilience Building and Preparedness Support.
Successful applicants will receive assistance designed to strengthen their capacity to prepare for and withstand climate-induced shocks and disasters.
Eligibility Criteria
Enterprises that meet the following requirements may apply:
- The enterprise must be a formally registered entity with the relevant authorities.
- The enterprise must be located in an area where climate-related shocks are likely to occur.
- The enterprise must clearly demonstrate how the anticipated shock(s) are likely to affect its business operations.
- The enterprise must have a valid Tax Clearance Certificate, indicating good standing with its tax obligations.
- The enterprise must provide financial statements.
- The enterprise must submit three (3) quotations from three (3) reputable suppliers.
Required Supporting Documents
Applications must be accompanied by:
- Proof of business registration.
- Business Identification Certificates, where applicable.
- An up-to-date Tax Clearance Certificate.
- Three (3) quotations from three (3) reputable suppliers.
