Job Title: Buyer

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To perform the day‐to‐day operations of the Mine’s Procurement Function. In addition, this role provides assistance to the Supply Chain Manager in the strategic development of the Supplier Base.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE

• Advanced Certificate or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Any Business Degree

• 3 Years’ Experience on Supply chain Management

• 3 Years’ Buying experience

• Experience on Sage X3 application is preferred

• Microsoft Applications (Advanced Level)

• Familiarity with writing contracts will be an added advantage

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Prepare contract and tender documents by working closely with the Legal team

• Purchase goods and services in a timely manner by processing incoming Requisitions into Purchase Orders. The role includes the presentation of data, composition of reports and monitoring of contracts.

• Expedite orders placed with various supplies to ensure timely deliveries to the mine

• Adherence to quotation requirements and maintain confidentiality in bidding and tendering processes

• Negotiate goods and services prices and set out terms and conditions

• Maintain records of purchases, pricing and important data

• Responsible for following up on invoices for payment

• Review and analyses all vendor / suppliers and price options by analysing Supplier Accreditation Process, ensuring

that the client’s standards are met and adhered to.

• Comply with the Internal Control processes and policies

• Participate in pre‐contract negotiations with key suppliers and effectively deliver implementation of the Terms &

Conditions negotiated in the contract.

• Provide support to the Financial Manager as required.

• Provide a support service to Buyers in obtaining prices for contracts for inclusion in tender bids for future contractual

work, in accordance with Procurement Procedures

• Work with internal stakeholders to establish KPIs and SLAs required by the Mine.

• Engage with existing and potential suppliers to monitor the established performance and service levels

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Highly proficient user of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel

• Experience of using Procurement and Finance systems

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to prioritize work, and achieve deadlines

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

• Team player with an ability to work on own initiative

• Customer focused
