BUSINESS RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST TO SERVE IN THE TOURISM LEVY COMMITTEE


Background
Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) is a body corporate established by an Act of Parliament – the Tourism Act of 2002 as amended in 2006. The Corporation has been mandated to collect the Tourism Levy on behalf of the Government of Lesotho and to administer the usage of that Tourism Levy Fund, which will help in the development of tourism products and services in the country.

The administration of the fund will be done through engagement of a Tourism Levy Committee, which will oversee and ensure transparent disbursement of the funds generated from the Tourism Levy collection. This committee will report to LTDC’s Board of Directors.

The Tourism Levy Committee comprises five people from relevant fraternities, and there is a need for one person who will advise on the analysis and management of risks associated with administering the Fund of this nature.

In order to realize this mandate, LTDC invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Business Risk Management Specialist to serve in the Tourism Levy Committee.


Job Summary
The Business Risk Management Specialist will be a member of the Tourism Levy Committee, whose mandate is to administer the usage of tourism levy collected funds as stipulated in the Tourism Levy Regulations 2021. The committee makes decisions and submits them to the LTDC Board of Directors.

The main responsibility of the Business Risk Management Specialist is to advise on the risks that might emerge and suggest appropriate mitigations.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Review and give assessment of all suspicious tourism levy account activity.
  2. Investigate potential risks in administering the tourism levy fund and assess those risks.
  3. Report any identified risk to the Tourism Levy Committee Chairperson and Secretariat.
  4. Recommend and implement risk management solutions such as safety and security policies and recovery measures.
  5. Perform any other duties assigned to members of the Tourism Levy Committee.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Honors Degree in Governance, Risk and Compliance, or a Postgraduate Diploma in Risk Management; or
  • Chartered Accountancy plus relevant experience in being a Non-Executive Director.
