Role Purpose:

This role will be responsible for leadership, line management and coaching of a team of 9 colleagues spanning this diverse range of functions. The role will truly work across all functions within South African Cluster and will be a key member of the Cluster Leadership Team. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Commercial Operations Director will be accountable for steering a diverse team consisting of the following critical functions;


Alliance Management;
account management of critical strategic partners with a focus on 3PL and other supply chain partners. Supporting future Business Development activity in line with global strategy.


Supply Chain Management
; ensuring continuity of supply across the multiple markets within Sub-Saharan region.

Facilitate the forecast/demand planning process with relevant local/global functions and MD


Digital Enablement
; Developing the overarching organization digital strategy, co-creating digital customer engagement strategies with the marketing teams to deliver outstanding customer experience and deliver on our business objectives. Pioneer digital transformation for South Africa.


Strategic Capabilities
; develop the capabilities/skills needed in our company for success now and in the future


Business Insights
; utilising data to inform business decisions and improve outcomes for patients, health systems and our company; enabling business planning and powering the commercial model


CRM/SFE Data Systems
; manage and optimising internal systems and tools (e.g. Veeva) to support the commercial model and look to the future to ensue systems will support new innovative commercial models.

Review Annual Country Learning plans to ensure alignment to regional/global priorities

Build and overlook the competency of Global Data Science.

Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation, identifying tangible and measurable criteria.

Responsible for reporting adverse experiences or events (AEs), adverse device events (ADEs), product quality complaints (PQCs) and other reportable information, customer feedback (CF), alleged counterfeiting, diversion and tampering (CDT) that they become aware of to the Designated Point of Contact (DPOC)


Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required:

Business Degree

Post-graduate degree will be a strong advantage

A minimum of 7 years strong commercial experience leading a function within the Pharmaceutical Industry/FMCG and or other relevant sectors; ideally experience of leading brand/franchise strategies and good appreciation of the ‘end-to-end’ process of launching, promoting and supplying pharmaceutical products.

An authentic, humble and flexible leader; someone who has people management experience and is able to support team members through coaching and mentoring

Ideally deep experience in the Marketing (including Digital); has demonstrated the ability to develop a strategic plan and execute through cross-functional teams.

Experience of collaborating across markets/with global; able to build strong professional networks to deliver on joint objectives

Demonstrated ability to be curious about our business, is a fast learner and able to rapidly test, learn and adapt

Exposure in leading and implementing support for business during COVID19
