Interactive Research and Development South Africa (IRD SA NPC) is a South African Section 21 not-for-profit entity and an affiliate of Interactive Research and Development Global (IRD Global), and has fully operational offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria (Gauteng) and in Durban (KwaZulu-Natal).

Position Summary

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will work collaboratively with managers and end users to develop reporting systems that provide accessible information for decision-making. The BI Developer uses warehouse data to solve organizational problems through reports, analysis and data visualization. The BI Developer will provide project wide data warehouse expertise with emphasis on data design, access, usage, security and quality of information assets. The BI Developer will be in charge of developing, deploying, and maintaining BI interfaces. Those include query tools, data visualization and interactive dashboards, ad hoc reporting, and data modelling. The BI developer will build and maintain a data warehouse design to generate reports on business and public health intelligence to aid in project performance monitoring and project decision making.

Key Accountabilities (included but not limited to)
Data Analysis and Business Intelligence
Lead the design, development, and improvement of the projects Business Intelligence solutions and manipulation of relevant data sources;
Manage the projects performance dashboards, including regular data entry, quality control and dissemination;
Support technical and field teams in interpreting performance dashboards;
Support technical team with data requirements as requested, including the setup and updating of monthly dashboards and cascades;
Prepare data for presentations, reports and analyses as requested;
Contribute to the analysis and write up of the project’s quarterly and annual reports;
Data Management and Reporting
Liaise with project M&E Advisor to verify, quality assure and troubleshoot program data;
Participate in data verification and reporting activities;
Provide data quality support, as appropriate;
Identify and implement efficiencies in data collection, compilation, review, reporting and feedback;
Ensure the development and maintenance of ETL processes, and project data warehousing;
Maintain full compliance to the system and data architecture, standards and procedures;
Prepare designs, estimates and functional specifications of databases;
Develop and maintain SSRS and Power BI reports;
Provide technical solutions to enhance the project’s data warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions.
Work with the project technical and management teams to develop standard and customized reports utilizing data warehouse and data feeds;
Ensure all required data is available in the data repository, and/or manage the specification and coordinate the development of systems to ensure data is available in the repository;
Be responsible for active maintenance of the data repository ensuring integrity, consistency, and relevant documentation;
Ensure the smooth operation of ETL processes and high availability of Business Intelligence infrastructure.
Coordination and Communication:
Work closely with M&E Advisor to ensure smooth implementation of BI activities;
Participate in the timely and accurate program submissions to donor requests;
Support the content development for the project, quarterly reports and other stakeholder meetings;
Support technical teams with target setting initiatives;
Communicate clearly and effectively with management team around project inputs and outputs
Stay updated with business operations and business intelligence processes.
Liaise with the M&E Advisor to address training needs and possibly implement training interventions.
Qualifications

Essential:
2-3-year’s work experience building and maintaining ETL processes, data warehouses and maintaining full compliance to systems and data architecture, standards and procedure;
Experience implementing and managing health program M&E systems;
Experience working with PEPFAR/USAID/CDC programs;
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SharePoint, Performance Point, Excel and Power Pivot;
Recognised qualifications in MS SQL Server technologies is advantageous;
Strong understanding of DOH and PEPFAR data and reporting systems;
Skills:
Must be pro-active, self-motivated, energetic, flexible, adaptive and innovative
Broad knowledge, skills and abilities associated with the design and implementation of data collection and data reporting systems;
Broad knowledge of statistical analysis, programming and database design methodologies;
Expert knowledge of Excel and other software for Dashboard development;
Strong ability to interpret and analyse complex datasets and knowledge of data analysis software;
Strong and effective oral and written communication skills;
Strong interpersonal skills in working with colleagues, functional peer group managers and management in other parts of the organization as well as partner and funding organizations;
Ability to work under general direction and with minimal supervision, prioritize program activities, manage multiple activities with competing timelines and deadlines, and multitask;
Ability to work in time constrained, high pressure, deadline-driven environment;
Knowledge of concepts of TB/HIV public health, epidemiology, statistics, and surveillance is advantageous;
Valid driver’s licence;

TB, DR-TB and TB-HIV District and Facility Co-ordinators, District Department of Health, NGO’s, Partners, Private Sector, Funding Agencies

Working conditions:
Willingness and availability to travel within district
On occasion, to work long and/or irregular /or after hours/ holidays and weekends if the needed to reach objective and deadlines
