The Character Company is a Non-profit Organisation that focuses on providing a long-term MENtorship program to young boys growing up with absent fathers. We are a group of men and women, from all walks of life, concerned with the impact of absent fathers on our families and society, working together to raise boys to be good men so that our communities can be a safer place for women and children.

They need a Business Development Consultant who will be directly involved in the expansion and development of The Character Company’s operations and social impact. He will achieve this by developing and supporting the company’s: MENtor recruitment drive; Social Media strategy; brand recognition; financial growth initiatives; and various events which form part of our programs. As part of the fund-raising component a target-based commission structure forms part of this role.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
DELIVERABLES MENtor Expansion • Work closely with the MENtor intake team and support the intake process. • Design and implement a National Expansion plan for TCC that can also support the Fixed Term Regional Characters (FTRC’s).
• Add at least two (2) new MENtors or FTRC’s to the TCC national footprint every month. • Design and implement a Social Media strategy around MENtor expansion across all TCC social media platforms. • Design and implement an “on air” strategy for MENtor expansion nationally. • Direct involvement with implementing the suggested expansion plans and strategies. • Monitor, review and analyse strategies in marketing, sales, advertising, and other fields of operations. Events • Plan and coordinate at least two (2) weekend camps in Gauteng per month. • Plan and coordinate at least four (4) family picnics per annum in partnership with Regional Characters in all areas where we have a footprint. • Plan and coordinate MENtor expansion events nationally in line with and to support the MENtor expansion target. • Coordinate & manage fundraising events for and behalf of TCC. These events include: TCC managed events; and others such as the Two Oceans Marathon, 947 Cycle Challenge etc. • Coordinate quarterly National Prayer meetings. Fundraising
• Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work.
• Research and identify new funding opportunities – including growth areas, trends, and partnerships.
• Assist in the execution of fundraising campaigns.
• Manage the creation of marketing and promotional material.
• Assist to plan and coordinate fundraising events. • Research and suggest measures for increasing donor base. • Assist in the recruitment of Volunteer workers to support TCC operations and events. Reporting
• Compile & submit monthly reports at management’s request.
• Keep accurate records of all expansion projects and funding programs.

YOU MUST HAVE:

Outdoor oriented – Someone who loves the outdoor environment, understanding the value of outdoor education / activities and how to utilize these activities for the benefit of the boys.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Minimum of Matric and/or Diploma in one of the following: Marketing, Business Administration, Events Management, Operations Management.
Experience working / volunteering in the non-profit sector.
Experience in a sales and marketing environment.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Experience with fundraising, donor relations and/or fund development would be ideal.
Experience in developing partnerships.
Experience in teaching / mentoring / working with youth.
Experience in the outdoor- and/or adventure industries.
Confidence with public speaking.
Trained in First Aid (at least level 1) or be willing to be trained in First Aid.
