The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) is a non-governmental organisation which envisions societies that are peaceful, equal and free from violence. CSVR aims to understand and prevent violence, heal its effects and build sustainable peace at community, national and regional levels. We do this through collaboration with and learning from the lived and diverse experiences of communities affected by violence and conflict to inform innovative interventions, generate knowledge, shape public discourse, influence policy, hold states accountable and promote gender equality, social cohesion and active citizenship.

CSVR seeks to appoint a Business Continuity Department Manager to be based in Johannesburg. The position will entail 50% of the time, one-year contract, renewable depending on funding. The successful candidate will work as part of CSVR’s Business Continuity Department.

Responsibilities
Drive the development of the organisation’s fundraising, income generation and communications strategies and plans.
Manage the implementation of the fundraising, income generation and communications strategy.
Manage the development of systems, processes and procedures for efficient implementation of fundraising, income generation and communications.
Facilitate and manage external communication including identifying key target groups and messaging, and managing all communication channels such as the media, website, social media platforms, webinars and other virtual meeting platforms.
Manage the process of linking of the board of directors, the executive director and programme managers to potential donors.
Manage media relations.
Ensure gender is mainstreamed across all Business Continuity Department strategies and activities.
Competency Profile
Masters’ Degree in the Business Development field (Media Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing) or equivalent.
At least 10 years’ experience in fundraising and communications
At least 3 years of experience in management
At least 2 years financial management of budgets over R2 million
Experience in the non-governmental sector will be an added advantage
Strategic leadership and capability
Fundraising and financial management
Organisation, programmes and project management
People management and empowerment
Coordination of stakeholder management across the organisation
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
