PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To provide a comprehensive stone mason or bricklaying service to domestic properties, demolish and rebuild cracked houses (rondavel houses and rectangular shaped houses build with concrete blocks), repair cracked plaster or replaster internal walls. All work must be done in accordance with the relevant safety regulations and departmental procedures. To monitor and inspect other crew’s work while performing his work as a bricklayer.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE
• Diploma in Bricklaying or Equivalent
• Minimum 10 years in construction work in a senior position
• Experience of large-scale construction projects in a senior position
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Interprets construction plans and specifications independently
• Interpreting work orders and determining the materials required
• Accuracy in measuring tape usage
• Responsible for management of resources including tools and equipment • Coordinate construction schedules and monitor crew attendance
• Laying bricks and irregular shape stone using mortar as a binder and a trowel to level
• Meeting targets by completing assigned work with stipulated time
• Working safely on scaffolds and swing stages at various heights
• Compliance with company safety and environmental requirements
• Reporting to immediate construction supervisor on daily basis
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Willingness to work on weekends and holidays as requested or needed
• Must be able to motivate and manage a team
• Understand construction principles
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and drawings
• Ability to meet targets and work within schedule
