Competence Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering [Chemical Engineering or Biological Sciences] / BTechin Science or

  • Engineering equivalent
  • IBD Brewing Diploma
  • SAB Ltd Brewing Technical Traineeship
  • IBD Master Brewer qualification (or working towards completion)
  • Good Knowledge Of The Brewing Process, Plant And Equipment
  • Good Understanding Of Asset Care
  • Knowledge Of Problem Techniques And Process Optimization
  • Good Self-Management
  • Computer Literate

EXPERIENCE

  • Good understanding of VPO.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the following, Standard Work Practices (SWP), SABMiller
  • Manufacturing Way (WCM), Problem solving methodologies and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of the Business Planning Processes
  • Good inter-relationship and communication skills and an ability to deal with external/internal customers.
  • Good understanding of financial processes within the company
  • Greenbelt Certification would be advantageous
  • In depth knowledge of the different Brewing process across the value chain. In depth understanding of the holistic
  • business model of Brewing
  • Benchmarking and shared learning
  • Brand and technical problem solving
  • Holistic capability improvement planned for, executed and delivered in accordance with the Manufacturing Strategy

Output and Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage the implementation of systemic technical improvements and projects to deliver both Brewing area

and Global KPI’s.

  • Develop and implement Brewery specific SOP’s [ how, what, when, who and why] and support the on-going

maintenance of these SOP’s through on-going coaching of the Brewery operation teams.

  • Lead the systemic problem solving process [FFA,FI,SA] to effectively deliver a permanent step change in performance.
  • Work with the wider SAB Brewing specialist community to implement shared learnings and Benchmark practices with

the correct change controls and trial assessments.

  • Collaborate and agree with Production Brewer the implementation of new best practice processes, plant and standards.
  • Brewing Expert contact for Trainee development.
  • Acts as technical lead for Brewing related CAPIN projects, owns the technical success of the project.
  • Competency Centre support and Campus Brewery project execution
  • Brand and Process capability ownership (Value chain breadth)
  • Accountable for delivery of the “Consumer Promise” with respect to Brand taste and CTQ and CI Quality Index Beerloss

optimisation in specified Brewing area

  • Regional deployment of BCoE campus projects and strategy (by agreement) Trade complaint follow up and loop

closure:

  • Accountable for ensuring that Level 1 technical audits are conducted against the appropriate GBS and Brand standards

manual.

  • Manage permits and injunctions, ensuring that audit gap list is captured in SAPNRA system and is actively managed for

closure of the identified gaps in the agreed time with the implementation of best practice.
