The Babies Home, Urban Kids Educentre, uplifted Preschool Training and offices are located on the 20-acre property of 64 on Main, Midrand. From this base Botshabelo serves the community of Olievenhoutbosch and surroundings. Botshabelo is passionate about transforming children’s lives through excellent education and residential care.

Botshabelo seeks to appoint a Social Worker for a Children’s Homes and community projects based in South Africa.

This is a half day position, working hours from 08:30 to 13:30

Reports to: General Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Write children’s progress reports
  • Write monthly, quarterly and 6 monthly stats and reports
  • Scrapbooks for children
  • Up to date documented photos of children
  • Liaise with statutory social worker on each individual child
  • Share “on call” with Babies Home Manager weekends and after hours

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Honours degree in Social Work
  • Current Registration with SACSSP; cleared on Section 29 and SAPS clearance
  • Knowledge of the Children’s Act and NPO Act
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Computer literate (Word and Excel)
  • English communication and report writing
  • Passion for children and to see them reach their full potential
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a child welfare or children’s home environment will be preferred
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal qualities and ability to work within a team with a friendly disposition
  • Work ethic without clock watching
  • Report writing qualities
