Bicycling Empowerment Network (BEN) is a nonprofit organisation. The main mission of BEN is to address poverty and mobility through the promotion of the bicycle in all its forms.

BEN seeks to appoint to a Fundraiser to be based in Cape Town.

Salary: Negotiable

Start date: As soon as possible

This is a part-time position

Responsibilities:

  • Research funders
  • Write proposals
  • Maintain funder relationships
  • Launch Ben’s “BENefactor”, an individual giving campaign
  • Work with funder tracking documents and databases to ensure deadlines are not missed
  • Network appropriate networks for knowledge sharing and door opening
  • Seek and obtain donations and funds for BEN which will enable BEN to achieve its objectives
  • Promote and sell BEN and its objectives to existing and new funders
  • Research potential new funders, prepare proposals, meet funders and follow up funders on an on-going basis
  • Devise new funding strategies
  • Evaluate and monitor projects
  • Write reports on the projects that BEN is involved in

Requirements:

  • Be self – motivated in finding new leads and able to accurately match needs and opportunities for funding
  • Be a team player, working alongside all staff in monitoring of existing funds and assessing funding requirements
  • Be creative in doing new events and campaigns that can attract funding
  • Be organised and able to multi task
  • Knowledge of (Excel and Word)
  • Competency with writing and understanding budgets
  • Be familiar with social media tools
  • Ability to compile an electronic newsletter
  • Interpersonal skills
