Bicycling Empowerment Network (BEN) is a nonprofit organisation. The main mission of BEN is to address poverty and mobility through the promotion of the bicycle in all its forms.
BEN seeks to appoint to a Fundraiser to be based in Cape Town.
Salary: Negotiable
Start date: As soon as possible
This is a part-time position
Responsibilities:
- Research funders
- Write proposals
- Maintain funder relationships
- Launch Ben’s “BENefactor”, an individual giving campaign
- Work with funder tracking documents and databases to ensure deadlines are not missed
- Network appropriate networks for knowledge sharing and door opening
- Seek and obtain donations and funds for BEN which will enable BEN to achieve its objectives
- Promote and sell BEN and its objectives to existing and new funders
- Research potential new funders, prepare proposals, meet funders and follow up funders on an on-going basis
- Devise new funding strategies
- Evaluate and monitor projects
- Write reports on the projects that BEN is involved in
Requirements:
- Be self – motivated in finding new leads and able to accurately match needs and opportunities for funding
- Be a team player, working alongside all staff in monitoring of existing funds and assessing funding requirements
- Be creative in doing new events and campaigns that can attract funding
- Be organised and able to multi task
- Knowledge of (Excel and Word)
- Competency with writing and understanding budgets
- Be familiar with social media tools
- Ability to compile an electronic newsletter
- Interpersonal skills
