Belize Export Diversification Project – Capacity Building of BELTRAIDE Export Unit

Belize is challenged by socio economic factors, including slow growth, rising poverty and unemployment. To address these challenges, the Government has renewed its focus on enhancing the country’s export performance and reducing the cost of doing business alongside improvements in revenue collection and financial sector reform.

The focus of this consultancy is on capacity building of the Beltraide Export Unit which provides support services to domestic (particularly export-ready) MSMEs may assist Belize to meet sustainable development goal number 8: of “Promoting sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”.

The Consultant(s) would be expected to develop training manuals and trainer manuals; deliver the training during the Training of Trainers workshop in Belize; conduct virtual follow ups after course implementation to measure effectiveness of the course; revisit EXPORTBelize to discuss the process of delivery and measure the uptake by MSMEs on progressing business development; and prepare and submit a summary report of the training. Please refer to the Terms of Reference for full details.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to have a post graduate degree in International Trade or Economics; at least 10 years’ experience in Export Promotion Activities; considerable experience in national or sectorial strategy development for   trade acquired preferably in developed or emerging economies; sound knowledge of local laws, policies and technical regulations governing trade; and the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders.

  1. Technical approach and methodology proposed to undertake activities outlined in the scope of work (Not more than 8 pages)
  2. Proposed work plan and milestones
  3. Proposed budget with all costs clearly broken down
  4. Detailed CVs of the proposed team member(s)
  5. A breakdown of tasks and responsibilities between the team member(s)
