BARTENDERS
Afriski Mountain Resort invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Bartender at its site at Mahlasela Pass.
Job Responsibilities
You will:
• Provide general service to customers in the dining area
• Prepare alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages
• Ensure company standard operating procedures and standards for alcoholic beverages are adhered to at all times
• Accurately record drink and food orders for production purposes and provide guests with till receipts
• Accept customer payments, process credit card transactions, and return correct change
• Wash and stack all glassware accurately
• Assist in restocking the bar
• Conduct nightly bar stock counts
• Clear and clean tables after each service, ensuring tables are reset and ready for the next guest
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the entire restaurant area, including tables, floors, windows, and staff areas
• Receive and serve food orders to guests
• Report any service or mechanical issues to management
• Make best efforts to personally recognize guests, especially regulars, and maintain a guest‑focused service approach
• Assess bar customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations
• Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails
• Check customer identification to ensure legal drinking age compliance
Requirements
• Physically fit and mobile with no back, leg, or arm problems; must be able to reach, bend, and frequently lift objects
• Must be 18 years or older
• Fluency in English (spoken, read, and understood to a high standard); basic math skills are essential
• Ability to listen, understand, and carry out work instructions correctly and on time
• Ability to learn and use job‑related computer software
• Willing and able to live at the resort if and when required
• Willing and able to work overtime
• Familiarity with Health and Safety rules, preferably in a similar environment
• Honest, sober habits; conscientious and reliable
