**Key responsibilities**

+ Maintain an effective and professional royalties’ system that caters for all needs of the PEA business.

+ Ensure compliance with all Pearson royalty policies and procedures so as to achieve error free operations.

+ Maintain a proficient knowledge of all computer systems required in performing responsibilities.

+ Maintain an overall knowledge of the royalty expense and reporting process, including contractual requirements, reconciliations, royalty analyses and forecasting.

+ Responsibility for accurate author statements and tax invoices.

+ Ensure that all transactions are compliant with SA Revenue Services and other jurisdictions with respect to VAT, Income Tax and any withholding taxes, including any other applicable taxes. – Prepare analysis of author royalty accounts as and when required.

+ Proactive collaboration with the Core business and Legal and Compliance with regards to author contract enquiries, agreeing accountability between the areas to resolve and ensure, where accountable, that any enquiries are resolvedwithin the accepted time-frames.

+ Proactively follow up on authors’ master file data discrepancies.

+ Proactively follow up on all unclaimed royalty payments and achieve or exceed targeted performance levels. – Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to reduce the number and amount of accrued royalties.

+ Assistance in other special projects, as required.

+ Assist in the resolution of royalty payment issues.

+ Work in a team environment.

+ Meet or exceed department operation standards.

+ Handle any other ad hoc projects that develop.

+ Conduct research for projects as necessary.

+ Ability to recognise potential risks to the business that should be escalated.

+ Must be capable of handling multiple responsibilities concurrently.

+ Self starter, with skills in planning, organizing and prioritizing various tasks.

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.

+ Ability to be flexible, able to meet various deadlines.

+ Strong organisational and time management skills.

+ Number-literate and have good team interaction skills with the ability to work well under pressure.

+ Very strong attention to detail.

+ Working to strict daily, monthly, quarterly or annual performance targets.

+ Driven by results and is target driven.

+ Proficient in Excel and Word skills and a polite but tenacious telephone manner. – Ability to work in a team as well as individually.

+ Sound decision making.

+ The ability to work under pressure.

**Experience**

+ At least 3 years experience in a similar royalties role.

+ Working in a large global operation dealing with a matrix organisation.

+ Working knowledge of Bookmaster.

+ Ability to interpret royalty agreements and their impact on the business.

+ Proactive, with strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

+ Proficient in Excel.

+ Demonstration of a successful track record.
