General Function
As a member of the professional client service team, participates in audit/review and compilation engagements under the guidance and supervision of more experienced professional personnel and prepares for advancement in the firm, the public accounting profession and the community
Technical Requirements and Responsibilities
- Speaks and writes effectively; develops skill in communicating through working paper schedules and memoranda.
- Develops insight into theory and principles of accounting, the objectives, standards and procedures of auditing, and their application to client situations. Develops knowledge of tax statutes, regulations and other source material relating to taxation and their application to client situations. Becomes familiar with clients’ systems and procedures, overall business operations and industries; uses this knowledge in audit work.
- Learns and meets the profession’s and the firm’s standards of technical quality as established in current national pronouncements and firm procedures.
- Develops alertness for significant problems in our client’s operations.
- Develops insight into the public accounting profession and its relationship to the investing public and other third parties.
- Performs audit procedures to support our accountants’ report on client financial statements – tests internal control systems and determines the reasonableness of recorded assets, liabilities and results of operations. Gathers information for reports, tax returns and management letters; assists on special client assignments as requested.
- Under the review and supervision of a more experienced accountant, compiles financial statements from source data, learns how to review financial statements for reasonableness, reconciles bank accounts, records depreciation and adjusts accrual accounts. Learns basis of payroll tax law and compliance procedures.
