Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
• Applicants must be holders of a Ph.D. in Soil Science with specialization in Soil and water management and/or other applied fields of hydrology and irrigation management
• Demonstrated skills in developing viable research project proposals to obtain extramural grants
• Demonstrated excellent academic leadership
• Demonstrated leadership for development of teaching and learning programs
• Demonstrated success in supervision and mentoring of postgraduate students
Duties and Responsibilities
• Advising students at undergraduate and graduate levels in directed research and thesis credit
• Pursue extramural grants and contracts from public and private sources to fund research in soil science, climate change, agriculture and environmental issues
• Mentoring other members of staff for research and publication
• Initiate, conduct and supervise original research in their areas of specialization
• Contribution to Departmental, faculty and University wide governance and academic citizenship
Work Experience
• Teaching experience at both undergraduate and post graduate degree levels
• Proven record as a successful teacher and mentor to enhance learning in Basic Pedology, Soil Ecology and Biogeochemistry, Waste Management, Land Tillage and Agricultural Water Management, Soil Physics and Eco climatology, and Soil Erosion and Sediment Control in Lesotho watershed ecosystems
• Research experience as evidenced by publications in scholarly journals
• Experience leading or participating in international research, education or development projects
Remuneration
The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience
Employment Type
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal
