POSITION: Professor / Associate Professor in Animal Health

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- A minimum of Bachelor of Veterinary Science/Medicine and a PhD in Animal Health or any related field.
- Proven track record of supervising postgraduate students to completion with a minimum of 5 Masters and 2 PhD students.
- Proven track record of research and publishing with reputable journals, with evidence of at least 5 research articles in accredited journals since 2020.
- Teaching experience at University/tertiary level (at least 9 years).
- Knowledge of reproductive technologies such as artificial insemination (AI) and embryo transfer will be an added advantage.
- Evidence of experience in resource mobilization (external funding).
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful appointee will be expected to:
- Teach a broad range of courses in Animal Health, Reproductive Physiology, Toxicology, Infectious and Metabolic Diseases of livestock, etc. at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
- Supervise students’ research projects and dissertations at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
- Mentor junior members of staff in research and publication, and climate change vs livestock production.
- Initiate and / or participate in research, community outreach and curriculum development.
- Design and oversee Animal Science practicals both in the laboratory and the farm.
- Applicant is expected to have knowledge of advanced Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Assist in the development, diversification and launch of new programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Develop and submit grant proposals and manage externally funded projects.
- Provide expert clinical care, service delivery or diagnostic service in the NUL-Farm.
- Perform any other duties, including administrative duties, as would be required from time to time by the Head of Department (Animal Science) and/or the Dean.

The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Employment Type
Permanent and pensionable / gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
