Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
• A minimum of Bachelor of Veterinary Science/Medicine and a PhD in Animal Health or any related field
• Proven track record of supervising postgraduate students to completion with a minimum of 5 masters and 2 PhD students
• Proven track record of research and publishing with reputable journals, with an evidence of at least 5 research articles in accredited journals since 2020
• Teaching experience at University/tertiary level (at least 9 years)
• Knowledge of reproductive technologies such as artificial insemination (AI) and embryo transfer will be an added advantage
• Evidence of experience in resource mobilization (external funding)
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful appointee will be expected to:
• Teach a broad range of courses in Animal Health, Reproductive Physiology, Toxicology, Infectious and Metabolic Diseases of livestock, etc. at undergraduate and post‑graduate levels
• Supervise students research projects and dissertation at both undergraduate and post‑graduate levels
• Mentor junior members of staff in research and publication, and climate change vs livestock production
• Initiate and/or participate in research, community outreach and curriculum development
• Design and oversee Animal Science practicals both in the laboratory and the farm
• Applicant is expected to have knowledge of advanced Learning Management Systems (LMS)
• Assist in the development, diversification and launch of new programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Develop and submit grant proposals and manage external funded projects
• Provide expert clinical care, service delivery or diagnostic service in the NUL‑Farm
• Perform any other duties, including administrative as would be required from time to time by the Head of Department (Animal Science) and/or the Dean
Remuneration
The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience
Employment Type
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non‑Locals with a possibility of renewal
