ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS ONE (1) POST GRADE G (177,192.00 P.A – 210,792.00 P.A)

JOB SUMMARY

under the Supervision of Supervisor of Government Schools, the incumbent will be responsible for supervising the administration of government and community schools in the country.

 

Main Duties

  1. Monitors the use of school funds in government and community schools and facilitates for periodic auditing of books of accounts.
  2. Facilitates training of Principals, Bursars and School Boards and management Committees on financial and school management ensures strict adherence to the guidelines;
  3. Follows up on the establishment of School Boards and Management Committees of all schools as undertaken by the Supervisor of Government schools at all times;
  4. Visits schools to supervise and assist Principals and management committees on their respective jobs;
  5. Ensures physical maintenance of government schools and supervises the maintenance of community schools;
  6. Ensures equitable admission of pupils in government and community schools;
  7. Liases with District Education Officers on any educational matters affecting government and community schools in their district;
  8. Ensures efficient and effective monitoring of teachers class work by principals through regular routine visits to check school records and to observe lessons;
  9. Performs any other official duty as assigned by the Supervisor and any act in the post of the Supervisor whenever called upon;

 

JOB SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATION

 POST Graduate degree in Education plus three (3) years’ experience in a managerial position in either primary or secondary school

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Education plus four (4) years’ experience in a management position in either primary or secondary school.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Good leadership , supervisory skills and communicative skills;
  • Full knowledge of educational legal framework, policies and procedures;
  • Report writing skills and computer literacy are of necessity;
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken official langauges (Sesotho & English);
  • Readiness to travel all over the country;
  • Basic knowledge of current trends in Education (locally and internationally)
