Assistant Spray Dryer (Grade 14)
Sappi Southen Africa/ Tugela Mill requires an Assistant Spray Dryer to effectively support the SLS process operator in the SLS Spray dryer & bagging plant with the objective of producing quality and quantity products according to customer requirements, mill standards and Plant objectives .
The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Conducts Plant inspection to ensure that the equipment is in a safe working condition.
- Prepares Spray dryer for start-up and shut down according to procedure and quality requirements.
- Operates bagging plant as per works instructions.
- Assists SLS process operator with Plant isolation clearances.
- Monitors bagging plant production and reports non-conformances to SLS process operator.
- Monitors stock levels of empty bags and reports to SLS process operator.
- Fill SLS powder into bags and seal bags prior to storage.
- Label SLS powder bags with barcode tags.
- Conducting the clearing of blockages in lines, pumps, rotary valves and scrubber.
- Collects samples for laboratory for testing.
- Follow all reasonable instructions given by Foreman and SLS process operators related to the SLS Spray Dryer and Bagging Plant.
- Assist SLS operator with problem solving on plant related issues.
- Reports on all defects and equipment malfunctions to Process Operator.
- Regularly Inspects equipment for preventative maintenances purposes.
- Completes plant checklist.
- Comply with all relevant SHEQ requirements of the job.
- Identify and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards.
- Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Matric and N3 Pulp and Paper Certificate (4 subjects)
- Relevant NQF Level 4 Qualification
- Basic Computer Literacy
- 1-2 Years plant operations experience will be advantageous
- Spray Dryer plant experience advantageous
