We have an outstanding opportunity for six Assistant Research Officers in the Governance and Peace Directorate (GPD).

Reporting to the Senior Director, the successful candidates will be responsible for providing programme, office and research services, and undertaking academic and practice-orientated research to help understand and explain complex situations and realities in a changing world. They may also be called upon to complete stand-alone and ongoing project work.

Other responsibilities entailed in this role include (but are not limited to):

  • In-depth research on current legal, governance and political issues as directed by the Senior Director which may affect the world in general and member states in particular;
  • Assisting in reviewing and editing publications, correspondence, contributions, presentations, etc.
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal and external meetings;
  • Keeping a historical diary/records of events in the Directorate;
  • Monitoring the delivery of results against planned outcomes.

To be considered you must have a degree in Law or Political Science, a post-graduate diploma or a relevant master’s degree, impeccable English writing skills, and at least one year of experience working for a research centre or as a Research Associate. Candidates should also have at least one publication in a reputable peer-reviewed journal and/or OpEd and other publications (evidence of authored publications must be submitted).

Candidates who are able to provide proof basic knowledge of artificial intelligence, blockchain technologies and data analysis, economics, law and development, public international law, financial services, human rights, and alternative dispute resolution will have an added advantage.
