The Commonwealth Secretariat is proud to be supporting youth empowerment through our newly created Young Professionals Programme (YPP). The YPP creates multiple opportunities for talented and qualified young people from across the Commonwealth to contribute to our core work through the transference of technical expertise, innovative ideas, specialist knowledge and fresh perspectives.
Reporting to the Adviser, Climate Change and working closely with the Climate Change Officer and Operations Officer, the person will be responsible for supporting the project management and technical delivery of the Commonwealth’s climate change programme.
Among the responsibilities encompassed in this role includes (but are not limited to):
- Project management support – contribute towards internal monitoring, reporting and evaluation processes utilising internal project management systems.
- Contributing to development of talking points, briefs, correspondence, presentations and information for senior staff and Communications Division as required.
- Supports the operations of Climate Finance Access Hub programme through stakeholder engagement and coordination.
- Development of short context-specific background research, collation and analysis of data for policy and research papers, resources, guidelines and training programmes etc.
To be considered for this role you must be a citizen of a Commonwealth country aged 27 years or younger at the time applications close. You must have a strong first degree in Environment, International Development or related Humanities or Social Sciences disciplines, from nationally recognised institutions. You must also have at least one year of demonstrated work experience in a relevant field and a good understanding of key development issues and challenges including climate change. The work experience may be gained through a combination of paid employment, volunteer, placement or internship positions. Experience of working in development and/or environment sector in a developing country and/or in a highly multicultural context will be an added advantage.
