Bureau of Statistics (BOS) will be conducting the 2019/2020 Agricultural Census in October 2020. The Census is a complex, large-scale operation that is usually undertaken once in every decade. It is one of the largest statistical data collections undertaken by Bureau of Statistics.

The Bureau of Statistics therefore invites medically and physically fit citizens of Lesotho under the age of 50 years to apply for the following temporary positions tenable in the ten (10) Districts of Lesotho:

JOB  TITLE: ASSISTANT PROCUREMENT OFFICER

RESPONSIBLE  TO: PROCUREMENT OFFICER

DURATION   : 150 DAYS

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of Finance Officer, the incumbent is responsible to implement processes, procedures and guidelines to ensure an efficient and effective stock systems.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.0 RECEIVING OF GOODS

1.1 Receives and inspects cartons, boxes and containers and check
items received against items ordered.

1.2 Notes shortages, damages or other deviations and notifies the
procurement Officer of such discrepancies.

2.0 INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
2.1 Records in a timely and accurate manner goods received,
receipts issued and details of storage for accountability.

2.2 Manages the input of data into the inventory module systems by
ensuring that all transactions are correctly posted on daily basis.

2.3 Maintain the unit’s records of a requisitions received and
maintains the registered files in respect of each procurement.

3.0 CHECKING STOCK BALANCES
3.1 Conduct sport check to ensure that stocks are well placed and tally
with information on the bin and ledger cards.

3.3 Prepares the stock-taking report to the procurement Unit for approval.

4.0 FACILITATE ACQUISITION AND PAYMENTS OF GOODS
4.1 Receives requisitions from end users to ensure that authority has
been granted.

4.4 Issues purchase orders to suppliers in order for goods to be
delivered.

4.5 Submits invoices to accounts department for payments.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Education and Experiences
Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Level Six (6).

Membership of any relevant professional body in procurement and supply chain management shall be an added advantage.

Other Relevant Knowledge
Knowledge of the Public Service Rules and Reg-t,lations. Knowledge of financial and Procurement Regulation.
