Your role at Clorox:

Responsible Sourcing Assistant Manager supports the activation of The Clorox Company’s IGNITE strategy with a focus on Burt’s Bees 2025 Impact Vision and Responsible Sourcing. This position is a functional and tactical linkage between Associate Director, Responsible Sourcing, the Burt’s Bees business, extended Clorox network and external stakeholders, especially suppliers. Main focus areas for this role are data management/analysis and day-to-day support for Burt’s Bees Responsible Sourcing and relevant internal and external business partners for risk mitigation related to Business Partner Code of Conduct, Burt’s Bees Natural & Responsible Sourcing Standards, communication plans and other activities as needed. A crucial purpose of the role is to help facilitate implementation of the Burt’s Bees 2025 Impact Vision and Responsible Sourcing within functions (Product Supply, Global Stewardship, Corporate Communications, Sustainability Center, Marketing and R&D). Experience in supplier relationship management and capacity to manage technical data are central to this role.

In this role, you will:

Support Burt’s Bees Responsible Sourcing Strategy

  • Partner with Product Supply, Global Stewardship, Corporate Communications, Marketing, R&D and other internal and external stakeholders to implement Burt’s Bees 2025 Impact Vision, Clorox IGNITE and responsible sourcing commitments
  • Assist Responsible Sourcing team with management of strategic business activities related to upstream supply chain sustainability and natural cosmetics
  • Contribute to further verification methods to ensure adherence to Burt’s Bees Natural & Responsible Sourcing Standards and business expectations
  • Coordinate communication, planning, review and follow up for human rights due diligence including Sedex Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs), SMETA 4-Pillar audits and other mutual recognition activities
  • Support discovery and exploratory activities in responsible sourcing innovation through relevant value- added programs, such as third-party certifications, stakeholder alliances, industry best practices, and NGO engagement
  • Assist with communication to internal teams such as Legal, R&D, GSS, Global Stewardship, Government Affairs, Corporate Communications and others on sustainability matters related to social and environmental risk within supply chain
  • Support specific ingredient and supplier relationship brand building opportunities to promote transparency where appropriate
  • Facilitate supplier development projects with NGO partners for Burt’s Bees Global Supply Chain Investment Program
  • Monitor ingredient conversion plans for new and existing products, including for Supply Assurance and 2nd Sourcing needs
  • Elevate issues as needed to inform strategy

Project & Data Management

  • Drive project management, data management, and tactical implementation of responsible sourcing projects and capability building with identified internal and external partners
  • Lead day-to-day raw material review and approval processes for Responsible Sourcing team with Burt’s Bees, SupplyShift and suppliers
  • Support actionable plans for responsible sourcing initiatives that develop and strengthen sustainability strategies and support supply assurance and risk management
  • Manage follow up and prepare summary data for ingredient information related to Responsible Sourcing needs including: approvals of new ingredients, consumer inquiries, and communication content
  • Create reports on formula impact based on ingredient inquiries and risk assessments
  • Aggregate responsible sourcing data for reporting including: The Clorox Company Annual Report, Burt’s Bees 2025 Impact Goals, internal sustainability measures, customer sustainability reporting, investor inquiries, etc.

  • Ability to apply expertise and experience to ensure social and environmental risk management, vision and values are integrated across all functions
  • Ability to effectively advise and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Technical acumen, ability to develop relationships, and build networks
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in social compliance/responsible sourcing audit management, risk management, R&D, supplier relationship management, corporate responsibility, public policy, etc.
  • Interest in driving innovative positive change through the power of responsible business practices
  • Excellent communication and influence skills to articulate complex technical ingredient and supply chain business situations accurately and effectively
  • Strong project management skills and ability to drive action and results with a positive attitude
  • Master’s degree or comparable experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel 5% of time domestically
