Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

This role exists to serve the needs of the business, our guests and our colleagues by supporting the Human Resources strategy of the hotel and effectively managing the operational requirements of the hotel..

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy and Planning

  • Assist the Manager of People & Culture in the preparation of the Departmental Budget and annual action plans.
  • Accurately identifies and assesses people and organizational risks for the Business and alerts colleagues.
  • Provides constructive input into the development of the Business policies and practices.
  • Provides quality input into the strategic, tactical and business planning of the department.

People & Culture Operations

  • Ensure that Minor Hotels People & Culture operational policies and processes are adhered to and continually improved.
  • Assist in all activities concerning the sourcing & recruitment of staff, performance management, staff discipline, and administration.
  • Compile periodic recruitment report for management.
  • Job descriptions are in place and issued to all parties, signed and filed.
  • Manage the People & Culture operation based on a detailed and up-to-date understanding of local labour law.
  • Supervise and coordinate all matters of work permits and visas.
  • Maintain full records of each person’s employment history, both online and in paper form, and ensure all such information is kept confidential.

Labour and Employee Relations

  • Ensure Policies and procedures regarding the management of discipline and for imposing sanctions are implemented and monitored regularly.
  • All employees are informed of the disciplinary procedures and all supervisors are trained on the management of discipline.
  • Adherence to grievance procedures by stakeholders is ensured.
  • All grievances are resolved within the time frames set in the Disciplinary Code and Procedures.
  • HR component monitors the level of employee satisfaction in the department at least on an annual basis.
  • Engage staff representative for the purposes of relevant negotiations and maintain comprehensive records, conclude mandated agreements, Maintain good-faith relationship and as far as possible maintain labor peace
  • Support the People and culture Manager with DDPR /LC Disputes
  • Maintain a positive relationship with staff representatives and ensure any employee grievances are monitored and resolved.

Compensation & Benefits.

  • Implement and monitor employee incentive bonus schemes.

Employee Communications

  • Assist in communication of key messages to all staff. Promote employee communication activities and channels, to encourage and enable feedback from staff.

Qualifications

  • Post Graduate degree in Human Resources or a Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law (Conciliation and Arbitration)
  • 6-7 years of experience in an HR. Experience in hotel industry highly advantageous
  • Extensive experience with DDPR and Labour Court
  • Strong commercial/business acumen
  • Passion for leadership
  • Strong communication, training and presentation skills
  • Office administration
  • Excellent Computer skills (MS Office: Word, Excel & Power Point)
