The Lesotho College of Education (LCE) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following position tenable at the Maseru campus. 1. ASSISTANT LECTURER – SESOTHO (1 Position)
Job Summary
The Assistant Lecturer in Sesotho, under the supervision of the Head of Department, will be responsible for teaching and assessing students in their area of specialization. Additionally, the role includes contributing to the enhancement and development of departmental activities and participating in the broader professional initiatives of the College across Lesotho.
Main Duties
- Teach assigned courses, assess students, and provide constructive, development-oriented feedback.
- Participate in courses, workshops, conferences, and seminars for professional development.
- Develop curricula, create course outlines, and ensure they are available to students.
- Represent the department in subject panel workshops, conferences, seminars, and other meetings as assigned by the Head of Department (HOD), Dean, or College Management.
- Conduct practical research on educational issues relevant to teacher education.
- Prepare and submit students’ performance records promptly, in accordance with the College Almanac.
- Provide counseling and professional guidance to students.
- Supervise and observe students during teaching practice.
- Complete Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities and participate in staff training sessions.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the HOD, Dean, or any duly authorized College Officer.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must have a Master’s degree in Linguistics or Curriculum in Teaching Sesotho, with majors in Sesotho Language and Literature at the junior degree level or equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at a recognized institution of learning.
- Ability to teach another African language will be an added advantage.

- Proficiency in ICT office and communication tools
- Ability to integrate ICT in education
- Ability to develop curricula
- Ability to teach in open and distance learning mode is an added advantage
