The Lesotho Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) invites applications from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position:

Job Title: ASSISTANT HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

Reports to: HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

Purpose of the Role:

To provide administrative support through maintenance of manual/computerised records and processing of employee data and service requests to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Tasks:

  1. File all information/documents into appropriate files/personal files for future reference.
  2. Ensure safe custody of Personnel Files and remuneration related files.
  3. Process leave applications and maintain an accurate record thereof.
  4. Capture staff leaves data into the HRMIS on daily basis to maintain up to date leave records.
  5. Provide employee information to facilitate preparation of payroll.
  6. Process terminal Benefits i.e. gratuities, severance payments, provident fund, etc.
  7. Work closely with Metropolitan Lesotho and the Board of Trustees of WASCO to ensure that employee benefits relating to provident fund are paid.
  8. Follow–up on outstanding claims from Metropolitan Lesotho. Follow-up and attend to queries relating to payment of benefits of employees
  9. Submit claims to the Broker and Labour Department for assessment and follow –up on payment of compensation.
  10. Reconcile HR staffing records with payroll monthly printouts on resigned, deceased and retired staff.
  11. Register and validate overtime received for onward transmission to the payroll.
  12. Undertake logistical arrangements for staff bereavements to enhance staff welfare.
  13. Provide logistical support for office activities for efficiency of operations.
  14. Receive and process stop-orders from different insurance companies for monthly deductions.
  15. Prepare a register of monthly payroll documents for onward submission to Finance for processing.
  16. Keep a record of file movement to keep track of information.
  17. Provide guidance on leave management to ensure compliance with policies.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  1. Diploma in HR management plus three (3) years relevant experience.
  2. Experience of at least two (2) years in HRMIS is a must. Sage 300 People will be an added advantage.
