The bi-national Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), a collaboration between the Kingdom of Lesotho (KOL) and the Republic of South Africa (RSA), aims to harness Lesotho’s highland water resources for mutual benefit. The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) is mandated to implement and operate the portion of the LHWP within Lesotho.
LHDA is embarking on Phase II of the LHWP—a multi-billion-rand initiative involving large-scale civil engineering and socio-environmental components. In fulfilling its mandate, LHDA upholds values of caring, professionalism, execution, teamwork, communication, and customer focus.

Assistant Fisheries and Aquaculture Officer
- Reference: HR/AFAO/08/25
- Division: Environment
- Grade: C1 (Paterson Grading System)
- Location: LHDA Tower, Maseru
Purpose: To implement aquatic biodiversity conservation initiatives aligned with LHWP environmental protection tools such as the Biodiversity Management Action Plan, Maloti Minnow Conservation Action Plan, Aquaculture Regulatory Framework, and education/outreach programmes.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Agriculture (Animal Science), Natural or Environmental Sciences, Fisheries Management, or Ichthyology with at least three (3) years relevant experience
OR - Diploma in the above fields with at least five (5) years relevant experience in a similar organization
