Zutari Lesotho is looking for an Assistant Civil Engineering Laboratory Manager to join our team.

Role responsibilities:

  • The Assistant Civil Engineering Lab Manager will function on site under the accredited laboratory’s Lab Manager.
  • To implement and monitor the requirements for the site laboratory, with respect to the laboratory’s relevant operational guidelines and control procedures.
  • Liaise with the Engineer and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Take care of laboratory administration and general management as required by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Ensure that the laboratory operations conform to necessary safety requirements.
  • Allocate tasks and targets daily to the sections and teams according to priority and as required by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Ensure that section heads and team leaders have all the necessary information and resources to perform delegated tasks and ensure their understanding of the requirements.
  • Ensure that all testing and fieldwork is undertaken in accordance with relevant methods and procedures.
  • Monitor the progress of testing operations and ensure that agreed targets are achieved.
  • Ensure that testing equipment is always in good condition and that calibrations are up to date.
  • Report discrepancies or failure of testing to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Supervise senior technicians and technicians on various project lab-related tasks as required by the Lab Manager.
  • Meet all company work schedule and attendance expectations.
  • Interprets and evaluates testing data.
  • Always ensure professional conduct.

Minimum requirements:

  • Lesotho National.
  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years in civil engineering materials, with at least 5 years fulfilling a Laboratory/Technical management role.
  • Fluent in English and Sesotho.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • MS Suite proficiency.

Preference will be given to candidates that:

  • Reside in the Mokhotlong region.
  • Possess Geotechnical experience.
  • AutoCAD software proficiency.
