Position: Assistant Accountant
Location:
Maseru, Lesotho
LNLVIP invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and highly organized candidates for the position of Assistant Accountant. The successful candidate will support the Finance Department and contribute to maintaining sound financial management systems, particularly within donor-funded programmes.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and annual budget statements
• Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and maintain up-to-date accounting ledgers
• Manage and monitor donor-funded project accounts, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and reporting deadlines
• Provide procurement support in accordance with organizational policies and donor guidelines
• Assist in preparation for internal and external audits
• Support the Finance Manager with daily financial operations and related administrative duties
Qualifications
Applicants must possess at least one of the following qualifications, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution:
• Certificate in Business Management
• Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)
• Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification
• Any other relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or procurement
Experience and Competencies
• A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant professional experience in accounting or finance
• Demonstrated experience working with donor-funded projects (mandatory)
• Experience working with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) or within the disability sector will be a distinct advantage
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Pastel or QuickBooks
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Sound understanding of financial compliance, internal controls, and procurement procedures
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
