Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Instruction
- Develop and deliver an engaging, creative, and age-appropriate visual arts curriculum for Preschool through Grade 8.
- Teach a variety of art techniques and styles including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media.
- Encourage both technical skill development and personal artistic expression.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse developmental stages and artistic abilities.
Assessment & Feedback
- Observe, assess, and track student progress in art projects.
- Provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate performance records.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide detailed term report cards.
- Maintain open and positive communication with parents and guardians.
Classroom Management & Environment
- Maintain a positive, organized, and safe art classroom.
- Promote a culture of respect, creativity, and collaboration.
- Ensure safe use and storage of art materials and equipment.
- Manage student behavior positively and supportively.
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Stay current with trends and best practices in art education.
- Participate in professional development and collaborate on cross-curricular projects.
- Reflect on teaching practices and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
- Work closely with learning support, ELL teachers, and specialists.
- Uphold child safeguarding and protection guidelines.
School Community Engagement
- Contribute to school culture through participation in meetings, teams, and events.
- Uphold the school’s mission, values, and commitment to holistic education.
Art Exhibitions & School Events
- Organize and curate student art exhibitions.
- Lead the creation of art displays for events and performances.
- Coordinate art projects for school-wide initiatives and community engagement.
Extracurricular Activities & Enrichment
- Offer after-school art clubs or workshops.
- Encourage participation in art competitions and festivals.
- Provide opportunities for exploration of various artistic mediums.
Preferred Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (or equivalent).
- Proven experience teaching art to Preschool through Grade 8.
- Strong knowledge of traditional and contemporary art forms.
- Ability to care for and manage art supplies and equipment.
- Experience supervising students and organizing art-related events.
- Familiarity with digital art tools and integrating technology in the classroom is a plus.
