Position: Area Manager – Mohale’s Hoek
Reports to: Regional Manager
Organization: Lesotho Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO)
Location: Mohale’s Hoek District Centre

Purpose of the Role
To provide leadership and oversight for the daily operations and maintenance of the Mohale’s Hoek District Centre, ensuring the reliable supply of safe drinking water, effective wastewater management, and operational efficiency that supports the financial sustainability of WASCO.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of water production, supply, and wastewater treatment
- Enforce WASCO’s operational standards and ensure compliance
- Conduct water quality tests and analyze operational data
- Optimize efficiency of pumping stations and reduce energy costs
- Maintain emergency standby capacity for treatment facilities
- Process new water and sewerage connection applications within set timelines
- Meet annual Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction targets
- Ensure calibration and functionality of production and customer meters
- Ensure accurate monthly meter readings and timely submission of walk route sheets
- Support debt collection strategies and timely disconnections
- Lead expansion and upgrade projects for water and wastewater systems
- Report on power consumption and align with production volumes
- Monitor project progress through all phases
- Engage in R&D to improve water and wastewater services
- Drive team performance and ensure safety compliance
- Collaborate on Annual Business Plan (ABP) and budget alignment
- Submit monthly operational reports to the Regional Manager
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements and customer satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (added advantage)
- 3 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, water, or wastewater management
- 2 years in a supervisory role with demonstrated leadership and operational oversight
