Partners In Health (PIH) is an international health organization relentlessly committed to improving the health of the poor and marginalized. PIH partners with local governments to build local capacity and works closely with impoverished communities to deliver high-quality health care, address the root causes of illness, train providers, advance research, and advocate for global policy change. PIH currently has implementation programs in Haiti, Rwanda, Lesotho, Liberia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Malawi, Peru, Mexico, Sierra Leone and Navajo Nation. Through our partnership with Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, we support a wide range of programs in dozens of other countries around the world.

Position Title: Architect

Reports to: Operations Manager

Location: Maseru with travel and stay to all PIHL facilities

Engagement Period: 30 days

Position Overview

The selected individual will play a crucial role of developing and producing architectural drawings and design drawings, mechanical and sanitary drawings and electrical drawings for the proposed projects and operational works.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Architectural drawings (partitioning, and layouts) for construction

  • Working with internal stakeholders to determine requirements for building projects
  • Develop Construction plans with all partitioning and details.
  • Prepare detailed drawings showing both the appearance and interior structure of a building projects (BIM)
  • Produce Internal Furniture designs with locations.
  • Develop initial estimates on structure costs, building time and special requirements
  • Prepare Lighting plans for ceiling.
  • Details and design of fixed furniture.

Mechanical, electrical and sanitary drawings

  • Develop Heating and cooling system drawings.
  • Develop sewer line and potable water supply systems drawings

Electrical drawings

  • Prepare detailed Electrical drawings for new projects

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • Diploma in architectural technology or equivalent
  • Five years’ experience in related field
  • Proven experience in using AutoCAD , 3D with Archicad and civil designer.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.

  • Physical fitness and stamina for hands-on plumbing tasks.
