Finance Officer (AQUITY Head Office – Pretoria)

Background:

AQUITY Innovations NPC, a Section 21 South African-based registered not-for-profit organization, was established in 2010.  Our mission is to promote access to quality health and social services through innovations and technology. AQUITY’s programmatic focus areas include HIV, TB, health systems strengthening, capacity development Orphans and Vulnerable Children as well as other interventions targeting key populations.

Programme and Vacancy Overview:

AQUITY Innovations NPC has been appointed by the National Department of Health to serve as one of the GLOBAL FUND TB Sub-Recipients (SRs) in South Africa. The project activities will be implemented in Mpumalanga (Ehlanzeni district) and Eastern Cape provinces. (OR Tambo and Buffalo City Metro districts). As such we seek to employ a candidate to filling the position below.

Key responsibilities

  1. Assist in the preparation of financial reports, management accounts and monitoring of budgets. Ensure that monthly Global Fund reconciliation statements are prepared for all Global Fund accounts.
  2. Process primary entry for transaction in accounting packages as well as banking operations for all purchase orders, payments and other transactions. • Ensure that all accounting records are updated promptly.
  3. Track all payables and receivables of the grant.
  4. Assist finance manager with tax compliance and reporting, including submission of all statutory returns timely.
  5. Compute all payables from travel, mileage, telephone, and any other and procurement document transaction
  6. Participate in the general accounting functions delegated including financial audits, banking operations, financial records management, payroll and claims processing, fixed asset, as well as risk management.
  7. Ensure and manage all financial document filling and records management in liaison with the administrator.
  8. Participate in preparation of the annual budgets and work plans together with the program staff of the PR, Procurement Specialist and other members of the financial team
  9. Together with other players ensure strict adherence to installed internal control systems for all areas of Grant operation.
  10. Any other financial tasks as will be delegated by the finance director.

Remuneration: Will be based on the government DPSA rate for similar positions.

Required:

  1. An advanced financial diploma or degree.
  2. At least 1 years’ experience working in a donor funded environment.
  3.  Strong inter-personal skills to liaise with funders, auditors and other stakeholders.
  4. Strong communication, financial reporting, presentation, both oral and written.
  5. Above average knowledge of office packages especially Excel, QuickBooks and Pastel packages.
  6. A driver’s License is a pre-requisite.
