Anti-GBVH Education and Awareness Raising Project Coordinator                                         

(Designated Funding Project)

The Solidarity Center, is an international NGO focused on labor and worker rights issues, is seeking candidates for a full-time Anti-GBVH Education and Awareness Raising Project Coordinator for the Lesotho Office in Maseru. The Anti-GBVH Education and Awareness Raising Project Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Field Project Specialist (FPS).

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Education and Awareness Raising workshops and works with The Lesotho Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Women and Law in Southern African Research and Education Trust Lesotho (WLSA), Independent Democratic Union of Lesotho (IDUL), United Textile Employees (UNITE) The National Clothing Textile and Allied Workers Union (NACTWU), Nien Hsing, Levi’s  Strauss & Co., and Kontoor Brands to eradicate Gender-Based Violence and Harassment (GBVH) in the workplace.  

Anti-GBVH Education and Awareness Raising Project Coordinator is dedicated to our cause, passionate about workers and human rights, and have strong organisational and people skills. Anti-GBVH Project Coordinator oversees the education and awareness raising Component of the project and facilitators who are responsible for training Nien Hsing workers on what is gender-based violence and harassment is, what are the root causes of gender-based violence, how gender-based violence and harassment presents itself at a workplace, how to identify and report incidence of gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work. It is the responsibility of the Anti-GBVH Education and Awareness Raising project coordinator to ensure that the facilitators are adequately equipped, both materially and pedagogically, to deliver high impact GBVH education and awareness raising to the NH employees and management and give them solid foundation on eradicating GBVH in the world of work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a work plan for the Anti- GBVH project which shall guide the activities of the project to Nien Hsing. Ensure that the education and awareness raising weekly and Monthly schedule is up to date and manage the project annual plan
  • Manage the designated facilitators teams, ensure that they are at their post on time, that they have all the required materials to produce the desired results and consolidate the activity reports produced by each team
  • Convene meetings for the GBVH project with Trade Unions, Women’s organizations, Worker’s Rights Watch and liaise with Nien Hsing.
  • Submit consolidated written periodic GBVH reports documenting the progress for the Oversight Committee of the Project activities.
  • Coordinate the publications and the media liaising with WRW and Nien Hsing
  • Report regularly to the Field Program Specialist and document success stories on GBVH

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in Project Management, or another related field;
  • 2 to 3 years successful experience working with NGO’s in coordinating projects or managing projects in a similar context;
  • Experience with facilitation and/or running education and awareness programs;
  • Experience with monitoring/evaluation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including fluency in both written and spoken English and Sesotho;
  • Commitment to ending Gender-Based Violence and Harassment in the world of work;
  • Ability to work flexible hours; and
  • Have attained a high level of computer proficiency, including using Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as a database system.
