The Board of Directors of LHDA has appointed Mr Tente Tente, Divisional Manager, Phase II, as the Chief Executive of the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) effective 01 October 2019. His appointment follows an extensive and rigorous recruitment process which commenced in late 2018.
Tente assumes the LHDA leadership role at an exciting time in the journey of Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), with construction of the Phase II advance infrastructure having started earlier this year, the procurement of contractors for the Polihali Dam and Polihali Transfer Tunnel construction works underway and final decisions on the hydropower component imminent.
Tente brings extensive experience both in Lesotho and in South Africa. He has a keen interest in the development and management of bulk water supply infrastructure and has built up a wealth of experience in design, costing and contracts management on large dam and water transfer projects in Lesotho and South Africa, beginning his career on the Mohale Dam project in 1996.
A member of several engineering fraternity bodies such as the South African Institute of Civil Engineers (SAICE), Tente is a registered professional civil engineer with over 22 years’ experience in all aspects of construction supervision, performance monitoring of concrete, earth and rockfill dams as well as project management and administration of large water infrastructure projects.
He holds several degrees in Engineering and several industry related certificates including the GIBB Leadership Programme.
Since assuming the role of the LHWP Phase II Divisional Manager in April 2013, Tente has driven the delivery of Phase II confidently and decisively. The LHDA Board is confident that he will continue this bold leadership as the Chief Executive of the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority.
