Job Purpose

  • To provide insights and analytics on assets, transactional and liability product performance as input into broader decision making in order to drive delivery of a margin above budget year-on-year.
  • To monitor assets and liabilities product changes and performance and ensure that system changes are tested and implemented within deadlines with the support of Product Managers and IT.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Sources appropriate data and prepares meaningful and accurate management information (MIS) pertaining to portfolio and product performance. Determines availability of data sources to support business requirements.
• Performs market sensing to identify product opportunities from upcoming trends and changing customer behaviour (e.g. if competitors change their pricing models for internet banking the jobholder has to identify the comparative impact of that change and make recommendations for changes where necessary, understand regulatory changes to prices and how competition responds to regulation).
• Analyses data and makes recommendations to Product Managers on pricing enhancements to improve digital uptake in the network (e.g. the customer pays less if cash is withdrawn at the ATM instead of inside the Branch).
• Analyses available data, and in certain instances sources data from external sources and recommends proposed solutions for product enhancements (e.g. competitor pricing information, regulatory trends and changes in customer transaction patterns, credit portfolio management trends, risk appetite performance trends, etc.).
• Provides input into new reporting solutions (i.e. Digitisation) using standard business intelligence methodology and toolsets.
• Coordinates the implementation and monitoring of fee and interest pricing for Personal and Business Banking Products. Provides input into the development of automated reporting platforms.
• Conducts pricing insights (internal and external) and prepares proposals (based on guidelines obtained in the products and pricing manual) for new fee and interest pricing products and services.
• Continuously monitors and tests processes and data to detect errors in order to improve reporting efficiencies.
• Engages with the IT and Transformation teams to conduct system tests and post-implementation of products and pricing.
• Works with all Product Managers on campaigns and go-to-market strategies for products to create awareness in the market.
• Establishes Product data needs and develops a reporting model for utilisation by Product Managers.
• Reviews appropriate data scripts to ensure accurate data extraction. Ensures that all necessary data validations have taken place and that reconciliations are standardised. This is necessary as questionable data can invalidate an entire measurement report.
• Engages with relevant stakeholders when data anomalies are detected which could impact the accuracy of reporting and drive the resolution thereof.
• Stays abreast of all changes of how the Customer Decision Engine (CDE) works to qualify and non-qualify customers for lending limits.
• Conducts detailed performance and profitability analysis (financial performance) using financial reports in order to prepare product performance reports with appropriate recommendations on which products to focus on or revamp.
• Provides NIR and NII budgeting assumptions to Product Managers and Finance, based on transactional, liabilities and lending product forecasts. Performs product balance, volumes and pricing forecasts as inputs into the budgeting process.
• Curbs income leakages by reviewing the transaction volume reports, liabilities and loan balances reports and analysing it to identify revenue leakages and produces a dashboard.
• Analyses market dynamics, pricing trends, market opportunities, operating and sales margins to develop reports, procedures and tools for pricing and price discounting for fees an interest
• Assesses the impact of pricing changes on the bottom-line as well as on customers and shares report with Product Managers on a quarterly basis.
• Continuously monitors price exceptions to determine whether a process or policy adjustments are required and liaise with Product Managers.
• Monitors Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) to confirm that we are within the policy.
• Understands, monitors and communicates FTP for each portfolio.

• Monitors and ensures all escalated customer and branch queries are actioned timeously.
• Assists with the resolution of functionality problems on the different product functionalities with assistance of Product Managers.
• Identifies and resolves issues around product management.
• Ensures compliance requirements for product are met with the help of Product Managers.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

  •  Degree in Mathematical Sciences, or Information Technology and any other business-related degree
  •  1-2 years’ experience in banking
  • Experience and exposure to Personal and Business Banking. Experience in data management and knowledge of all PBB transactional, liabilities, lending and other products e.g. Card, Insurance, Channels, Merchant Solutions etc.Branch banking experience will be an added advantage.
