About the role

We are looking for an Analyst: LED, to support the empowerment of communities through transformation activities and community trusts. All these initiatives should be developed in line with local government’s integrated development plans (IDPs), Provincial Growth and Development Plans and the Millennium Development Goals. The role supports the business to account to the regulator through planned audits and regular reports as well as to all stakeholders, thus maintaining the business’ social license to operate.

Reporting to the Manager: Socio Economic Development & Transformation, you will:

  • Provides advisory support to Board of Trusts – 60%

  • Provides advisory support to on the management of trusts to ensure their growth and sustainability

  • Provides review of Annual Financial Statements

  • Identifies and implements preventative measures to potential risks the trusts may pose to RBM

  • Works closely with the Finance and Legal & Administration Departments for advice on legal and financial matters

  • Prepares financial reports as required by the Manager

  • Assists the boards to develop their business plans and action plans and monitor the implementation thereof.

  • Assists with the updating of Trust policies and procedures and governance documentation are maintained and amended where necessary, at the request of the Board of Trustees

  • Contributes to the development of internal quality assurance and governance processes and procedures inclusive of maintaining up to date and duly revised record of such

  • Stakeholder engagement and capacity building – 10%

  • Develops and maintains a formal customer relationship with the Board of Trustees

  • Engages appointed trust committee members to ensure alignment in relevant planning and agreements

  • Attends relevant meetings on an ongoing basis

  • Educates stakeholders to ensure understanding of, and compliance to, trust legal and financial rules and regulations

  • Engages relevant stakeholders on a regular basis to understand their needs and ensure that they are up to date with trust matters

  • Facilitates skills transfer to the Board of Trustees

  • Monitors and records activities – 10%

  • Keeps records of all meetings and agreement in Borealis

  • Documents and report on all transactions relating to the trusts

  • Compiles a monthly activity report and circulate to relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure high standards of quality – 10%

  • Generate a culture of safe, healthy practices and environmental care in local communities.

  • Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Manager.

  • Transformation – 10%

  • Provides input to the development of the company’s transformation strategy in line with the Mining Charter and DTI Scorecard

  • Identifies, implements and monitors the of transformation programmes business wide

  • Advises RBM ExCo and the Board on transformation programmes, polices and performance

  • Liaises with internal stakeholders to develop approach based on RBM business needs as well as commitments to DMR

  • Supports the Manager with reporting to the Regulator and relevant stakeholders on transformation performance

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • National Diploma in Development Studies / Law

  • Advantageous: Project Management

  • EB License

  • 3 years’ experience in the management of community trusts

  • Knowledge of the Trust Property Control Act 1988

  • In-depth knowledge of the Trust Deed
