Analyst: Internal Audit (6 month Fixed Term Contract)

About the role

We are looking for an Analyst: Internal Audit to assist the business/management to identify and reduce business and financial risks through effective value add implementation and monitoring of controls to achieve business objectives.

Reporting to the Specialist: Compliance & Internal Controls, you will:

  • Monitoring & Value-add activities:

  • Data analytics and trend analysis, regular monitoring of potential areas of abuse. This includes, but not limited to the following monitoring activities:

  • Purchase order monitoring (long standing purchase orders, etc)

  • Splitting of purchase orders circumventing the procurement process

  • Purchase order date after invoice date

  • Transactions not supported by official purchase orders

  • Detailed invoice verification and interrogation to confirm actual work performed, payments are in line with agreed rates/prices and appropriate approvals thereof.

  • Conduct investigations into identified and/or requested issues/risks.

  • Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures.

  • Present remedial actions in a formal report to management


  • Contract: Management Activities

  • Review of supplier contracts which includes the following:

  • Effective governance of contractual terms to identify room for potential improvements

  • Review of the monitoring against contractual KPIs

  • Review of invoice verification processes and provide enhancements

  • Interrogation of services received against invoice received and payments made

  • Review of potential duplicate/fictitious invoices and payments

  • Challenging current processes and identify opportunities for refinement

  • Present remedial actions in a formal report to management.


  • Assurance Activities:

  • Assist with Assurance activities as and when required by the Internal Audit department and the business which includes the following:

  • Execution of reviews as per the Internal Audit Plan and ad-hoc reviews;

  • Gathering adequate evidence to ensure that audit findings are adequately supported;

  • Discussion of findings with management and obtain action plans

  • Drafting quality internal audit reports

  • Tracking and monitoring of findings/actions and engaging regular follow ups with

About you


To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • B Com Accounting, B Compt/B Tech Internal Auditing or related qualification

  • At least 3 years in either an external or internal auditing/forensic/investigative environment ;

  • Exposure in a large production/mining industry advantageous

  • Proven working experience with SAP is a must

  • Licence: EB
