Purpose of the Position
As part of the hospital healthcare team, you will provide anaesthesia to patients for surgery and intensive care. Your main responsibility is to care for patients before, during, and after surgery, ensuring they are safe and comfortable. The role also includes resuscitation of patients and emergency care. You should also be familiar with procedures, policies, and organisational culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Setting up, testing, and sterilising anaesthetic machines, monitors, oxygen supplies, and airway devices before each procedure.
• Assisting with the safe transfer of patients, calming them pre-operation, and assisting the anaesthetist during induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anaesthesia.
• Continuously observing patients’ vital signs (e.g. blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, etc.) and assisting with the administration of medications and fluids.
• Actively participating in resuscitation and emergency situations by quickly supplying necessary medical devices or blood products.
• Working in close collaboration with related teams and units.
• Documenting all work done in the patient file or relevant institutional records.
• Ordering anaesthesia supplies and equipment and ensuring they are well stocked.
• Working long hours, including nights and weekends, and participating in an out-of-hours rota system.
Job Requirements
• Registered Degree in Anaesthesia or Diploma in Anaesthetic Nursing + General Nursing and Midwifery
• Two (2) years working experience in anaesthesia
• Registration with LNC
