Agronomist / Farm Manager
About the Role
FreshEdge is seeking an experienced and results-driven Agronomist / Farm Manager to oversee daily farm operations, ensure efficient production, and manage farm staff while meeting quality, cost, and yield targets. The Agronomist will play a key role in aligning farm production with market demand and supporting sustainable and profitable agricultural operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate, and manage all farm production activities (planting, irrigation, fertilization, harvesting)
• Supervise farm staff and seasonal labour, including task allocation and performance monitoring
• Implement crop production plans in line with market demand and seasonal schedules
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and security of farm equipment, tools, and inputs
• Monitor crop performance, yields, and input usage and implement corrective actions where necessary
• Enforce Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), food safety, health & safety, and environmental standards
• Manage irrigation systems, water use efficiency, and soil conservation practices
• Control pests and diseases in collaboration with agronomists and extension services
• Maintain accurate farm records including production, labour, inventory, and costs
• Prepare operational reports, budgets, and forecasts for management
• Coordinate with logistics, storage, and marketing teams to ensure timely delivery of produce
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Farm Management, Agronomy, or related field
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience managing commercial farms involved in mixed farming (shade nets, open fields, etc.)
• Proven experience in staff supervision and farm operations planning
• Practical knowledge of irrigation systems, machinery, and farm input management
• Understanding of GAP, food safety, and basic compliance standards
• Valid driver’s licence is an added advantage

• Financial awareness, including cost control and budgeting
• Hands-on, field-oriented approach
• Ability to translate technical information into practical guidance
• Data collection, reporting, and basic digital literacy
• Good communication and reporting skills
• Knowledge of the country’s agricultural environment is an advantage
