We are looking for a dynamic, commercially driven, and customer-focused Agricultural Retail & Sales Officer to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales and business development while supporting the effective day-to-day operation of the agricultural retail environment. The role requires a strong understanding of customers, agricultural products, stock management, purchasing, pricing, and commercial operations.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about agriculture, sales, customer service, and business growth and who can take ownership of achieving sales and operational objectives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, Agriculture, Animal Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related field from a recognised institution.
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in sales, retail, branch operations, agricultural trading, or a related commercial environment.
  • Proven experience in sales and business development, with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Sound knowledge of stock management, inventory control, purchasing, pricing, invoicing, and cash management.
  • Good understanding of customer relationship management and the ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Experience in staff supervision, operational planning, and performance management.
  • Good computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel, with experience in point-of-sale, inventory, or sales management systems.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of commercial performance, and make sound business decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet sales, operational, and reporting deadlines.

Advantageous

  • Experience managing an agricultural supplies shop, animal feeds shop, retail outlet, or similar commercial operation.
  • Knowledge of agricultural products, animal feeds, farming inputs, or related products.
  • Experience within the agricultural, livestock, wool and mohair, or commodity trading environment.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Driving sales and achieving agreed sales targets.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and developing existing customer relationships.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, farmers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of the agricultural retail outlet.
  • Managing and monitoring stock levels, inventory control, and stock movements.
  • Assisting with purchasing, pricing, invoicing, and cash management.
  • Ensuring products are appropriately priced and available to meet customer demand.
  • Monitoring sales performance and identifying opportunities to increase revenue and profitability.
  • Ensuring accurate processing of sales transactions and related documentation.
  • Supervising staff and supporting effective employee performance.
  • Assisting with operational planning and ensuring that daily activities are completed efficiently.
  • Monitoring and addressing stock variances and other operational discrepancies.
  • Preparing relevant sales, stock, operational, and management reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Providing a high standard of customer service and resolving customer queries and concerns professionally.
  • Supporting the achievement of overall commercial and operational objectives
