Catholic Relief Services is currently recruiting 15 positions of Agric Business Trainers for below mentioned councils in Lesotho.

Job Title: AgricBusiness Trainers x 15

Reports To: Local Entrepreneurship Specialist 

Contract Type: Temporary (6 Months)

Location: Five Community Councils: Mafeteng: Metsi Maholo (5), Quthing: Tosing (2), Mohale’s hoek: Thaba Mokhele (1), Leribe: Bolahla (2), Berea: Phuthiatsana (5).

Project Summary:

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is currently implementing the Economic Inclusion Program (EIP) under Component 1A of the Pathways to Sustainable Livelihoods Project (PSLP). PSLP is implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.  The aim of the Economic Inclusion Program is to strengthen the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable households by piloting the introduction of economic inclusion activities alongside cash transfers.  As a result, the beneficiaries shall be trained in Micro Entrepreneurship, Agric Business and Financial Education. Post the training the beneficiaries will transition to the next stage of coaching where the incumbents will be responsible for coaching the beneficiaries on income-generating activities, micro-entrepreneurship and develop evidence-based business ventures of their choices.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To plan, coordinate, train and conduct coaching sessions to identify project target beneficiaries which are residing on the above-mentioned community councils.
  • Provide guidance and support on the development of detailed Agric Business Development Plans and viable financial records keeping.
  • Conduct weekly monitoring visits as needed, to identify business practice, learning gaps and to provide technical assistance and ongoing support in the form of coaching and mentoring.
  • Support the smooth implementation of the project by being part of reflection meetings and providing reports when needed.
  • Work closely with MEAL Officer and other relevant officers to collect data, support data analysis process, share lessons learned to facilitate improvements in decision-making and documentation of best practices.
  • Prepare and produce detailed monthly reports based on training and coaching activities conducted.
  • Establish relationships with local organizations, government ministries and other institutions, specifically those with interest on MSMEs empowerment.
  • Provide service referrals, linkages to Mentors and Access to Markets.
  • Identify and provide guidance on advertisement platforms that are affordable and ensure businesses of project beneficiaries are marketed and promoted to attract more clientele.
  • Participate in existing Agric microenterprise forums and share best practices for the successful implementation of the project.
  • Identify risks that may affect businesses ventures of project beneficiaries and provide strategies to mitigate those risks.

 Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  •  Must reside in one of the following community councils: Metsi Maholo, Tosing, Thaba Mokhele, Bolahla, Phuthiatsana.
  •  Diploma in Agricultural Studies or related
  • A diploma in either Business studies, Entrepreneurship Management or Marketing should be added advantages.
  • Minimum work experience of 6 months Training on Agric Business, advisory, coaching, and mentoring micro, small and medium enterprises on Agric business ideation, Formation, starting or growing their businesses.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong skills in training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Organized and proactive, able to create, execute plans and attain goals.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to Network and forge relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

Required languages.

  • Fluency in Sesotho and English. 

Travel

  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 80% of the time within the above-mentioned community councils.
