African Leadership Academy (ALA) seeks to transform Africa by developing a powerful network of over 6,000 leaderswho will work together to address Africa’s greatest challenges, achieve extraordinary social impact, and accelerate the continent’s growth trajectory.

The academic program at ALA combines an international faculty and unique instructional methods to create a strong student-centered learning experience. Our core courses of Entrepreneurial Leadership, African Studies and Writing and Rhetoric empower young leaders with the knowledge and skills required for complex problem-solving; in addition, students may select from a set of externally and internally designed courses in the Humanities,Sciences, Languages and Creative Arts. Externally designed programs include a variety of Cambridge Advanced International Examination (CAIE) AS and A-Level courses.

SAT Tutoring:

Students at the Academy have access to a tutoring program at the Academy in preparation for the SAT exams, which are also written at ALA three times each year.

University Guidance:

Every student has access to in-house university guidance and support in submitting applications to universities across the world.Guest Speaker Program: The Academy offers a robust guest speaker program, creating platforms for students to learn fromleading experts in Academy-wide Distinguished

Executive Seminars.

External Opportunities: Students are afforded the opportunity to participate at a range of conferences, symposiums and competitions in several countries across the world each year.

Each year, more than 2,000 young leaders from across Africa apply to study at African Leadership Academy.Through a rigorous selection process, we are able to admit up to 130 students into each class.

LIFE ON OUR CAMPUS

The ALA campus located on the outskirts of Johannesburg provides a tranquil environment ideal for learning and discovery. The campus is designed around a quad, with dormitories, classrooms, dining hall, auditorium and our science laboratories radiating from that center.

ALA world-class facilities serve to create a conducive home-away-from-home for all our students and several members of faculty and staff.

SPORTS & RECREATION

Sports are a fundamental part of student life at ALA,and every student is expected to participate in either competitive or recreational sports during their time atthe Academy. The available sporting options include:

STUDENT LEADERSHIP ALA is a fully-residential academy, and our students live inultra-modern dormitories on the campus.

There are six (6)male dormitories and six (6) female dormitories, eachmanaged by a hall master/mistress, with the support of a student Residential Assistant.

The all-inclusive cost of $30,900 per annum to attend ALA includes:

  • All-inclusive for fees for a full year covering tuition, accommodation, sports, activities, meals and uniforms.
  • Full access to ALA’s campus facilities including entertainment
    areas, sports fields, high-speed fibre internet, biometric security
    control.
