The Green Connection, a NPO focused on environmental justice which aims to empower marginalised communities to raise their voices on environmental justice matters that affect them.
The programme will be based in Cape Town however, the coordinator is expected to travel nationally when necessary. The coordinator will be expected to empower community leaders to bridge the gap between community and government and would therefore need a sound understanding of community, with literacy in diverse South African languages. The coordinator should have some experience of engaging with politicians at local, provincial or national level.
The Green Connection seeks to appoint the Advocacy Programme Coordinator to be based in Cape Town.
This is a leadership position and involves reporting to the operations head, carrying out related admin and working as part of a team.
Requirements:
A self-motivated university graduate with an understanding of advocacy and democratic governance.
Environmental knowledge, leadership experience, strong writing, presenting skills, computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential.
Experience within the parliament, and project management experience and public speaking experience would be an advantage, as would a sound experiential understanding of social media.
Remuneration commensurate with experience.
