Key Responsibilities:

1. Background and Purpose:

World Vision Lesotho, a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to improving the well-being of children, families, and communities, is seeking committed individuals to serve on its Advisory Council (AC) in a voluntary capacity.

The purpose of the AC member role is to provide oversight and advice to the management including the National Director of WV Lesotho pursuant to the legal, regulatory and operational requirements of WV Lesotho. The AC is responsible for overseeing the overall performance of WV Lesotho, ensuring that there is an effective management team that is responsible for the day to day. The AC is also responsible for protecting the assets of WV Lesotho and representing the interests of WV Lesotho’s stakeholders.

2. Role Overview

The Advisory Council provides strategic guidance, oversight, and support to ensure that World Vision Lesotho fulfills its mission of promoting child well-being and sustainable community development.

  • A Post-graduate level with 3 years’ experience operating at Senior Leadership/Executive roles;
  • Health and Nutrition background with demonstrated experience in engaging with children;
  • Experience in serving as a Board Member will be added advantage.

3. Key Responsibilities

· Provide strategic advice and governance oversight

· Support fundraising, advocacy, and partnership initiatives

· Uphold organizational values, integrity, and accountability

· Champion World Vision’s mission, vision and core values

· Possess cross-cultural sensitivity, knowledge and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures

· Act as an ambassador for World Vision Lesotho in national and international forums

· Committed to attend quarterly board meetings and participating in World Vision key initiatives.

· Must be a mature, committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.

4. Competencies/Skills

· Have proven leadership experience in governance, development, or related fields;

· Possess strong networks in government, private sector, civil society, or academia;

· Demonstrate commitment to humanitarian and child-focused development;

· Uphold high ethical standards and integrity;

· A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills;

· Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

· Must be resilient, humble and willing to serve the Most Vulnerable Children;

· Must be committed to the duties of the Advisory Council on a voluntary basis.

· Ability to identify, advice and support management on funding opportunities;

· Commitment to continuous learning, willing to keep abreast to new developments and knowledge sharing for the benefit of the organization.

· Good reputation in the country for character and competence.

· Willing to serve on a voluntary basis (no remuneration);
