We have an outstanding opportunity in our ICT Section for an Adviser – Data and Business Systems.

Reporting to the Head of ICT, the successful candidate will provide technical expertise for the implementation of core business systems, including enterprise resource planning functionality, data management and database design.

The post-holder will be responsible for providing 2nd line support for applications to business.  They will also be responsible for supporting projects through analysis, development, testing, implementation and incident resolution.

Other responsibilities entailed in this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing supervision to the members of the Data and Business Systems Team, ensuring that appropriately skilled resources are in place to meet the required service levels;
  • Liaising with external and internal clients to assess and analyse their existing methods, systems and needs. The post-holder will also be required to translate user requirements and develop system specifications for new systems and tools to support the business;
  • Providing database administration (DBA) functions to mission-critical database applications. This will include the planning and implementation of data migration and systems integration where necessary;
  • Carrying out diagnostic checks on application systems and database management systems (DBMS), optimising database performance and remedying any faults found;
  • Undertaking the design and development of software/database applications projects and ensuring that budgets and timescales are adhered to.

To be considered you must have a degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field and a certification in data management. Candidates must also have a minimum of five years’ experience as a Team Leader and in requirements gathering, analysis and the design of new systems for users. A minimum of seven years’ experience as a systems analyst (with experience in database administration) and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft 365 is also required.
